Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity
At GOSH, every day, young lives hang in the balance as patients, families and staff battle the most complex illnesses. Every day, the brightest minds come together to achieve pioneering medical breakthroughs that change the lives of thousands of children – and change the world.
Despite the greatest challenges a child can face, the hospital is a place where being sick does not always mean being sad. And it’s a place where you’ll find – today and every day – some of the bravest people you could ever meet.
This extraordinary hospital has always depended on charitable support, and every day is a chance for you to make a difference. Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity supports the hospital and its patients by funding four key areas:
1) refurbishment and rebuilding
2) support for children and their families
3) research into children's health
4) life-saving medical equipment
This charity is currently raised money to build a new critical care unit which will increase the number of beds on PICU. Tavie took the last available bed on PICU on 22nd March and she would not have survived a longer journey to another intensive care unit. We would like to support GOSH PICU as much as possible.
The Sick Children's Trust
The Sick Children’s Trust is the charity that provides a welcoming ‘Homes from Home’ where families with a sick child in hospital can stay. They are a charity who give families a place to stay, minutes from their child’s bedside. They can support 148 families per night with an average length of stay of 13 nights (in 2023).
This Charity gave us accommodation for two and half weeks whilst Tavie was on PICU, fighting for her life. It meant we could remain alongside our daughter as she fought this battle and we are forever grateful.
How our fundraising will help:
£40 could pay for a family to stay in our 'Homes from Home' for a night, giving them one less thing to worry about.
£50 could go towards plates and cutlery, pots and pans so families can enjoy a home cooked meal together
